Reispflanze
I can't use the brush. That's essentially it. I have reinstalled the program and everything, but it draws neither on new layers nor on anything else.
Celine
I have the same problem. Basic brushes work but not any of the "fancier" ones like acrylic or dry media. Opacity is not on 0% and Protect Alpha is unchecked.
Staff MEB Posted January 4, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 4, 2021 Hi @Reispflanze, @Celine, Welcome to Affinity Forums @Reispflanze, Can you give us a few more details please? Have you checked if the Flow and Opacity are not set to 0%, Protect Alpha is not ticked and the Blend mode is set to Normal in the context toolbar? Have you tried with a brush from the Basic category? Does it still fail to draw in a new pixel layer?@Celine, Is the Flow (context toolbar) set to 0%? Also check the Blend Mode please. Then go to the Colour panel - do you have the Opacity slider (on the bottom of the panel) set to 0%? Are you able to replicate the brush issues in a new document or it's just in a specific one? Hey, I set Flow and Opacity to 100%, Protect Alpha is not ticked, Blend mode is set to Normal and I am using the standard brush on a new pixel layer. I made a screen capture, maybe that helps you to understand what is going on. (Fluss = Flow; Deckkraft = Opacity; Schützen = Protect; Transparenz schützen = Protect Alpha; Mischmodus = Blend Mode) (thanks for your quick reply btw)
Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 Hi @Reispflanze, Welcome to Affinity Forums Seems you are doing everything correctly. Click the Mehr (More button) and check the Accumulation and Flow of the brush in the General tab. Reispflanze
@MEB Accumulation was set to 0%, now it's working just like it should. Thanks a lot for your help (although I don't understand why one would ship these as default settings).
Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 These are not the default settings. It should work out of the box. Have you been experimenting with other brushes previously? Maybe some settings aren't being reset/switching to the defaults when you change the brush... Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Reispflanze
The first thing I did after installing Affinity Photo on a fresh Big Sur installation was trying out the brushes, so I doubt I canged anything by accident.. (Like I said, I even reinstalled the entire program and deleted any files associated with it)
