Pšenda Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 I think it would be appropriate for Serif to join this initiative with its products. https://contentauthenticity.org/ Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.7.2948 (Retail) Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605. GarryP Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 An interesting idea but I am wondering who might control the storage of the distributed ledger information about the claims. It’s ‘distributed’, yes, but where is it to be ‘distributed’ to and who controls that distribution? In other words, what’s to stop Adobe from ‘forcing/coercing’ people to only use their ‘trusted ledgers’? I haven’t read the white paper fully – just did a quick scan – but this seems very Adobe-centric and I have the worry that it is just another way for one company (or consortium) to control the use of people’s assets. A nice idea, in theory, but I can see this taking on ‘darker undertones’ later in the process once people have got used to it (a bit like: “Of course it’s free, for now, but we might need to start charging a small ‘administrative fee’ in the future” and “Yes, of course you can still use your assets that are protected by our system as long as you keep paying us to keep them safe for you.”). Or I might just be a teeny bit paranoid. Now who has stolen my tin-foil hat? RNKLN 1 Quote
SanJacobs Posted January 6, 2021 Posted January 6, 2021 I wouldn't ever want anything to even come close to touching my ability to edit the EXIF data or metadata of my files. Quote

If you can edit your files EXIF data then so can a bad actor. I'd much rather that be the case, than people thinking they can trust metadata because some popular apps refuse to edit it. garrettm30 1 Quote
