New users cannot change their usernames. A forum administrator, such as @Patrick Connor, will have to do that.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, eliezer.sinnai.

Where did you purchase your copy of Affinit Photo, from Serif directly, or from the Mac App Store? Which instructions are you trying to follow, and what happens when you try?

The term ‘new user’ seems to mean different things, depending on the context! You can change your profile picture after three days, but you need to wait for five days to change your username without admin help. In both cases you need to have made at least four forum posts.

I  think I bought it from Mac App Store. I''m not convinced

If you purchased it from Serif then under  the Help Photo menu you'll have a Check for Updates action. If you don't have that, then you purchased from the Mac App Store.

If you login to the Mac App Store you should find it in your list of Purchased programs. If you go to the list of Updates that are available, and you don't see it there, you might try doing a Refresh. Or you might try explicitly signing out of the store and signing in again.

It is under the Photo menu on Mac OS when purchased from Serif.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello, I have the same problem.  I noticed my Affinity Photo was still running 1.7.x and wasn't updating from the Mac App Store where it was originally purchased.   When I go to the App Store, it shows the icon to download and install the app (i.e. not purchase or update).  However, when clicking on the install icon, it just spins. No download is started.  I have tried restarting the Mac, logging out and back into the App Store, etc.  I spent an hour with Apple's online support and they couldn't figure it out.  In the end, they said to contact Affinity for help as they said they "did everything they could think of".  So where do I go from here?

Unfortunately it is entirely in Apple's hands, I think. Their OS, their Store, and their servers are failing to download a program that they sold to you.

If they have a record of that sale (which they have in your store account) then they should provide you with the updated program (which they have on their server) or they should refund your purchase price so you can buy directly from Serif.

(This is all my opinion, of course.)

I have the same problem - trying to update from Mac App store but just get a spinning disc.

I came here to try and get a download of the update but there doesn't appear to be any way to do that, or to contact support.

Is there a support number or chat function for Affinity?

@R0llr, welcom to the forums.

Your problem is with the Mac store, so you need to contact them. Affinity cannot help you on this.
