brvindead Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Hi, every time I try to create a new document it seems misaligned. I am trying to create a business card 3.5 x 2 inches with 0.125 margins and bleed. I am unsure why it is showing up like this. Could anyone enlighten me, I am not a professional graphic designer so please forgive my ignorance. Thank you, Brandon Quote
v_kyr Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Hard to tell from that screenshot alone, how do the document setup settings look like (the panels entries)? brvindead Posted January 2, 2021 Author Posted January 2, 2021 Attached is my screenshot of doucment setup, when it opens magnified it looks fine, but the moment I zoom out, it has this weird misalignment. I'm on a 2018 Mac Mini running Catalina. Quote

GarryP Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 I’ve just tried recreating your document set-up on my Windows machine and it looks fine to me. However, it may be worth noting that the ‘origin’ of the zoom functions is centred at the mouse pointer and not the document, so when you zoom out the document may move to the side if your mouse pointer is not exactly centred on the document centre. (This is expected behaviour for the Affinity applications.) Quote
brvindead Posted May 22, 2021 Author Posted May 22, 2021 Hi, I apologize to bump my topic, but I thought it would be preferable to creating a new topic regarding the same issue. I am still having this issue when creating documents with a bleed. I have tried with no margins or bleed, margins only and bleed only, and it only occurs when using bleeds. For e.g. Whether or not I zoom out I still see this. I am using a Mac mini 2018 running Big Sur. I had this problem previously on Catalina and thought maybe it was because I did not update my OS. After updating to Big Sur and with a fresh installation of Affinity Designer, I am still having this issue. Does anyone have any idea as to a possible solution? Regards, Brandon Quote

GarryP Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Why are you creating a document with SVGA dimensions and bleed? As far as I know, bleed is only useful when you are going to print something, which means that you need document dimensions that are the same as the physical medium you are printing on. What are you planning to do with the exported result? Quote

Hey Dazmondo, I appreciate the suggestion, however it is on OpenGL already, and after switching back and forth the same issue occurs. Hi Psenda, Im not sure if you're referring to your previous comment on this post: On 1/2/2021 at 5:22 PM, Pšenda said: is it really a misalignment of the document, not just a display problem? I apologize if it's my inexperience, but I did not see how your comment helped me to resolve the issue, or offered steps to take. Thank you for your help :) Quote
