Affinity Photo 1.8.6 - Select tool - not working properly

I am on Mac OS 10.15.7 and Big Sur 11.1 - In Affinity Photo the select tool doesn't work properly. I can not select the objects I want.  When I select an object, the select tool selects another object and not the one I want.

Which selection tool are you using?  Also can you attach an afphoto file where this issue is happening?

Merry Christmas. Here you go.  When I  select a text it is not selecting the clicked one.

Your file works correctly in the 1.9 beta, but not in 1.8.

Remove the stroke from the "merry christmas" text frame to fix the problem.

You may also want to remove the stroke from the other text frames (if not needed) to prevent further issues.

Pedantic, perhaps, but: Photo doesn't have strokes on text frames, does it? That stroke should apply to the text, not the frame.
