Can't select text boxes or lines

Hi,

Here's another simple but weird one. I can't select textbooks or objects with the mouse. Although, I can select them from the panel,  but this is too time consuming. Please see the video for details. 

If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

I looked at your video 4 times and tried to decipher what exactly you were having problems with.  Ok maybe I am wrong here and have grabbed the wromg end of a logical stick.  But you seem to be wanting to select text without having to thumb through layers.  I do this by simply triple clicking on a text box while having the mouse pointer arrow tool (the "V")  The only other thing I thought about was did you create ALL of this in publisher or has some of it been imported as a pdf or something?

Hi @Steve_1010,

Thanks for the screen recording provided!

I can see that your top text frame is being selected, I'm not 100% certain of this cause for this without seeing your document, but I certainly do agree that Publisher shouldn't be selecting this text box when trying to select one of the numbers.

Can you please try holding the Option key whilst left clicking with the Move tool? This allows you to select objects 'below' the current layer and should mean you can select these numbers first time.

Thank you for the reply.  It's strange but I simply can't activate the textbook with a click.  As Dan C noticed, a totally different box seems to get activated. 

You suggested that maybe I'm importing something into the file. You might be on to something here. I'm not not importing outside of Publisher, but I've got several Publisher files open and have been transferring shapes and texts between files. Today things acted normal until I copy and pasted a simple shape from another file. Immediately, this copy and pasted shape began being selected when I started clicking on other text boxes.

Thank you for the advice. I went to work a few minutes ago and everything was working, but I'll use the option key when it happens again. I'm wondering, thanks to Chris26's comments, if when I copy and paste another shape from another Publisher file, this is glitching things out. It happened earlier today, so I moved the shape to another page and the problem went away, then I moved the shape back when I was finished.   

I'll experiment and update this post.
