Steve_1010
Hi, I'm struggling to do a basic task - change the color and outline color of a rectangle. I've included a video to show my problem. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Thank you so much... Changing_color_on_shape.mov
firstdefence
@Steve_1010 Looks like you have a text frame not a rectangle, get the text frame panel up and change it’s fill and stroke, I think you’ll find that’s your problem. Steve_1010
Hi firstdefence, Great eye. That's it! There is mystery lurking in my computer. Periodically, shapes are automatically converting to text frames. However, now I can at least work around it. Thanks again.

If you click on a shape with one of the text tools (Artistic Text Tool, Frame Text Tool) it will become a Text Frame. Steve_1010
Thank you Walt! I've been puzzled about that for months. Is there some way to convert the text-framed shape back into just a simple shape?

Undo (or the History panel), assuming you notice it before you've done much else.
