Spennysimmo
Hi I have both Affinity Designer and Photo. I am new to both and am fairly new to design also although I’m perfectly fine with Vector layout software. I’d like to know how to create a mock-up like the attached. I can create the flat artwork design layouts of the cards and already have these. However to present it like this on one card leaning against a stack, with the artwork on both and the appearance of stacked cards with the drop shadows, this is new to me but I want to learn. From research one way of doing this is with a mock-up using smart objects but I have a number of card designs to present and wouldn’t want to use the same mock-up repeatedly. I’d be very grateful if someone could point me in the direction of how to go about creating something like this, preferably in Designer if possible but if not in Photo. Thank you! v_kyr
There are several different possible ways for doing this as vectors! - Though the quickest would probably be to use vector shapes and apply some FX effect filters to those (3D, outer shadow, etc.) ... card_stack.afdesign But the bad here in terms of vectors is, that the Affinity FX effects will be rasterized on export and thus be stored as bitmap representations inside a vector file! - A better way would be to do it all in plain vectors then, namely also the 3D look and also the shadows etc. For a more real 3D look the isometric design features of Designer can be helpful to use, for the shadows then either some vector gradient or a bunch of combined vector lines/shapes which resemble a shadow. So the above shown is only a quick'n'dirty 5 minute sample of how to do it the very fast way with Designer! Can I ask how you achieved the 3D look with the stack of cards or will I see that in the file you have kindly provided? I’m in my phone right now so can’t access it. How can I learn about the isometric features and then add my artwork design on top of each visible layer. So the front layer and the top one on the stack. Thank you again! Usually you can see that from the file and also from the above screenshot, I stacked multiple plain rounded rectangle shapes one above another and gave each an FX 3D effect ... 13 minutes ago, Spennysimmo said: I’m in my phone right now so can’t access it. For Designer take a look over the following informations ... Designer Online Help Designer Video Tutorials Isometric and axonometric grids Isometric design and grid setup Advanced axonometric grid setup How to use the new isometric drawing tools (Affinity Spotlight) How to create an isometric grid with Designer ... and so on, do a Google search ... Placing artwork is usually easy here, you can place grouped objects (groups or montages) on top of the relative layers. You can also make sort of a template (mockups) via reusing embedded other Designer/Photo or image files. See for an APhoto example (of course you can use Designer too instead)...
