markusloffler
Hi, Affinity Designer displays transparent background as a checkerboard pattern using white/light grey color. When I work with white objects on top of it, they are very difficult to see. Is there a way to change the color of the checkerboard pattern? Thanks,Markus My1
Staff MattP Posted September 10, 2015 Staff Share Posted September 10, 2015 I'm afraid there's no way to alter that - I usually just add a locked background object in a darker colour and toggle its exportability so that my exports don't include it :)
markusloffler
Hi MattP, thanks for the answer - I was using the same workaround, but didn't use the lock and disabled the exportability - those were the missing things that makes it useable. thanks! My1
sorry for necroing this (but there's no reason to create a new topic for something regarding it), but are there any plans for adding this feature someday? that would REALLY help in enough situations. Staff MEB Posted August 3, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 3, 2018 Hi My1, If you use artboard-based documents you can assign a colour to the artboard itselft selecting it in the eLayers panel and picking a colour from the Colour Studio (or context toolbar). For regular (non-artboard) documents there's no way to do it other than adding an object or pixel layer with the colour you want to the bottom of the layer's stack as mentioned above. My1
while at least something, it would be nice to also have a global option like one can do in gimp.
HarryW
The persistent checkerboard is annoying and distracting. Adding another element as a workaround should not be necessary. How about adding a preference in User Interface to turn the checkerboard off or on? I used Pagemaker in the late 1980s, then Quark and then InDesign, so I have some experience with page layout software. So far I'm very impressed with Affinity Publisher's Beta!
