BHIP
I'm trying to make Presets (Templates) and every time I hit the Customize button, per video instructions, Affinity crashes. Screen Recording shows what's happening. Screen_Recording_2020-12-20_at_1_12.35_PM.mov
Old Bruce
While I agree that that crash should not happen (and doesn't here on my Mac OS 10.14.6), a way around this is to actually choose something and change it before hitting the + button for a new preset. What I see, if I try what you did, is this; BHIP 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Staff Gabe Posted January 6, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 6, 2021 Hi @BHIP, Sorry for the delayed reply. We were closed over Christmas/NY. I have only seen this issue once or twice. Seems to be something related to the "Cannot add preset" pop-up message. Did you purchase the app from the Mac App Store or the Affinity Store? If you purchased from the Mac App Store could you try these steps please: Go to Macintosh HD\Users\username\Library\Containers\ rename the 'com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner' folder to 'com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.old' Start Designer This will have reset all of your settings so please note all of your assets, brushes, etc will not be there. Currently these are stored in the renamed folder so we can look at getting them back if this works for you. If Designer does not crash anymore, could you zip up and attach a copy of the 'com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.old' folder please? Instead if you purchased from the Affinity Store could you try these steps please: Go to Macintosh HD\Users\username\Library\Application Support\ rename the 'Affinity Designer' folder to 'Affinity Designer Old' Start Designer This will have reset all of your settings so please note all of your assets, brushes, etc will not be there. Currently these are stored in the renamed folder so we can look at getting them back if this works for you. If Designer does not crash anymore, could you zip up and attach a copy of the 'Affinity Designer Old' folder please?
BHIP
Thanks for the info but I need to take a hard pass. For one reason, about a year ago iCloud deleted all my Affinity work. No archives etc. I'm grateful that I'm not a Graphic Artist, I make things in Affinity to help with my crafting. So you see why... This will have reset all of your settings so please note all of your assets, brushes, etc will not be there. Currently these are stored in the renamed folder so we can look at getting them back if this works ...is too much of a risk for something that isn't that important to me. I can just create a new doc each time. But thanks again for your help.
joshrouwhorst
@Gabe I'm having the exact same issue, but what's weird is I don't have a Macintosh HD\Users\[my username]\Library\Containers\com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner folder or a Macintosh HD\Users\[my username]\Library\Application Support\Affinity Designer folder. I believe I purchased this on the website and not the App Store but it was a while ago now and I'm not sure about that. Also someone above mentioned that it only crashes when you're creating a preset that already matches an existing one and that's definitely not true in my case. This crashes no matter what dimensions I put in. I'm running MacOS 11.1 and Affinity Designer 1.8.6. Staff Gabe Posted January 12, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 12, 2021 Try navigating to ~\Library\Containers\com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner or ~\Library\Application Support\Affinity Designer using Finder > Go > Go to folder
