danyan Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I often use the fill tool to apply a pattern to a rectangle. While the handles are really quick to try different scales, it seems to me that there's no way of knowing exactly what percentage of scaling I am looking at. Same applies to rotating the pattern (again using the handles): I'm not able to establish what rotation angle it is. While a workaround to this could be using clipping masks instead of the fill tool, this is not always viable (e.g. with patterns that have a small repeat block, think checkers like the example below) and anyway much slower and prone to mistakes (as I would have to manually place multiple copies of the repeat block if I wanted to fill a bigger space), while with the fill tool I can use the wrap setting which is super useful. Am I missing something? Attached example: the top left is the original repeat block so it's 100% with 0° rotation, but I am at loss regarding the other 3 as I can only eye guess it looking at the handles (which of course is even more difficult with more complex patterns). Edit: actually the top left is not even the original, as it was upscaled to fit the square, so again it would be helpful to see the percentage of scaling without having to do the math. Quote
