bengtolof Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Maybe helpful for someone I had a problem some time ago and I spent several hours before I found the cause. In the attached sample, you can't place a text frame to the left of the upper text frame. The work around was to place a frame elsewhere and then move it to the place intended. Can you find the reason? After deleting, copy/paste etc I finally could isolate the problem - a hidden character (show all chacters) had somehow got a "stroke" on it. That prevented the placing of a text frame to the left. In the attached sample, you find the stroke on the "new paragraph"-symbol after "justo". If you take the stroke away, you can place a new text frame without problem. /Bengt stroke.afpub carl123 1 Quote
GarryP Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Welcome to the forums @bengtolof I cannot replicate the problem(s). I loaded your document into Publisher and successfully created a new Frame Text layer to the left of the existing top Frame Text layer. Also, I cannot see any 'ghost stroke' on the New Paragraph symbol. See attached image for both. If I have not replicated the issues correctly then you will need to give more-detailed instructions. Note: I am using Windows 10, if that makes a difference. Quote
bengtolof Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 @ GaryP Well, I can only say it is strange. But good for you :). I downloaded the attached file myself just to be certain that I didn't upload a corrected file, but but the same problem is still there. I made a not so good film to show how it behaves in my computer. I use win 10 aswell and Publisher 1.8.5.703. It could be that there is a setting I'm not aware of which creates to problem. I can add that if I put the stroke on a letter in the text, no strange behaviour appears. Only if the new paragraph symbol has the stroke. /Bengt Olof stroke 5.mp4 Quote
carl123 Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I can confirm the problem even in a new document using a new text frame The problem appears to be fixed in the 1.9 beta so the fix should make it into 1.9 when it is released Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
GarryP Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Unfortunately I can’t watch the video. It plays, but I cannot see anything other than the controls and the progress value increasing. However, if the problem is fixed in 1.9, as carl123 says, then there’s probably not much more we can do. Quote
bengtolof Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 Thanks. Then we wait and see. Quote
