SimonTheSorcerer
Hi all, I'm working on Affinity Designer, and can't seem to find a function to align text objects using the baseline and not the bounding box. Since there are characters that go below the baseline, the bounding box produces completely misaligned text as you can see here: I'd expect alignment on text objects to be using baseline by default, but it doesn't seem to be the case. After a quick search on the forums I couldn't find a solution, does anyone know how to approach it without doing it manually and by eye? SimonTheSorcerer
After some digging it seems I needed to use different text type; Frame Text does align to baseline while Artistic Text, which happens to be the default, doesn't. But there doesn't seem to be a way to convert between the two types unfortunately; That seems pretty limiting, hope it will come soon. SimonTheSorcerer
Hi v_kyr, I guess it depends on what characters are being used again, but it should work as a workaround in some of the cases. Thanks for the idea.
Old Bruce
I use the following set up in my Snapping manager for situations like this, It works with different sized text objects quite well Screen Recording 2020-12-18 at 6.40.39 AM.mov SimonTheSorcerer 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
SimonTheSorcerer
Hey Bruce, thanks a lot for the tip and going through the trouble of making a sreen recording. That's very useful workaround. It has the limtiation of having to adjust each item one-by-one but it should work for a lot of cases!
