Just a guess: it looks like a combination of an empty document/main window + fullscreen mode + toggled UI. If that's the case you could try using the keyboard shortcuts to switch from fullscreen (ctrl-cmd-f) and to toggle UI (tab). Since on mac in fullscreen mode a separate desktop gets used you alternatively could swipe through your desktops to check if UI items are left somewhere else. Also it might help to press cmd-. (period) to cancel an open but invisible dialog window (e.g. Open... or New...) which could temporarily disable the Toggle UI command, though this cmd-. will work only if the according window in fact is currently selected (maybe even invisble).

Another option might be to reset the app by holding the ctrl key when launching the app from the apps folder (not via dock). This will open a dialog window with a bunch of reset options, the first 3 selected by default should be sufficient to solve the issue, in particular to "Reset Studio". (Note sure about this: You could try the reset with the first options unchecked to keep some of your custom defaults – or rename the according folder in your user library first to save those custom preferences).
