Hi there.

Im trying to migrate from PS. I do beauty retouching.

What I use often in PS is to clip an adjustment layer to an other adjustment layer (mask). Sorry, I'm not great with the technicals.

Ill give an example:

I make a curve adjustment layer, create a mask, and lets say brush around the eyes to make it darker - Now usually this makes this darker area also more saturated, so in PS

I make a hue/saturation layer, take down the saturation and "clip it" to the curves adjustment layer + mask, so the desaturated are would only apply to the curve that I made previously.

I tried to find some solution for Affinity, some videos about clipping, but that doesnt work for me. Any tips?

That's because you need to set the blend mode to Luminosity on this curves layer.  Then you would not need another adjustment.  So in a way, problem solved in affinity also.  Alternatively, switch to LAB mode and use the lightness channel only to darken, with a mask also of course, then switch back to RGB, no information is ever lost nor is there ever any degradaion in this type of workflow from RGB to LAB then back to RGB straight away.  Also can do in Affinity.

Microsoft - Like entering your home and opening the stainless steel kitchen door, with a Popup: 'Do you really want to open this door'? Then looking for the dishwasher and finding it stored in the living room where you have to download a water supply from the app store, then you have to buy microsoft compliant soap, remove the carpet only to be told that it is glued to the floor.. Don't forget to make multiple copies of your front door key and post them to all who demand access to all the doors inside your home including the windows and outside shed.

Apple - Like entering your home and opening the oak framed Kitchen door and finding the dishwasher right in front you ready to be switched on, soap supplied, and water that comes through a water softener.  Ah the front door key is yours and it only needs to open the front door.

Sometimes changing the blend mode to luminasity is not enough, I know because I do high end beauty retouching in PS for a while now.

So the kind of clipping I was talking about is not possible at all as I described?

Yes you can do this:  Here the HSL is clipped to the Curves.

That's great. But how? Im on Mac btw.

My apologies I made a gigantic mistake, here is the correction.  The mask that you see is for the curves.  The HSL is only affecting the inside of that bubble. BUT you need to have all three underneath a duplicate copy of your image.  Hope now it works for you.  And I almost forgot to tell you, (I am Tired) that I inverted the mask before using the brush.
