cant open smart object correctly & how to export the presets file in My Preset list

Recommended Posts

but it can open correctly in Photoshop(solved)

solution:you can't set link refresh the broken link to no link then save, if now open the file with affinity you will get a not correct one , but in photoshop all seems still working

(if you create new blank image with Photoshop and place the broken-linked PSD with smart object inside you will get an error said link broken ,please relink the missing PSD file)

so it's the Broken PSD made the smart object function of Affinity Photo no-working

BTW: how to export the presets file in My Preset list or how to copy it out and reinstall correctly to 1.9(Pre is 1.8.5.703)(still not sloved)

If you're talking about the list in the File > New dialog they are in the doc_spread_presets.propcol file. The FAQ below explains where the .propcol files are stored. To do what you're asking you'll need to find the copy that has the data you want, and copy it to the directory for the other application, replacing the file that is there.

The result did what you suggest get no import happen, could you please have a try of what you said, maybe it's a bug

Files need to be in the same relative location for both 1.8 and the 1.9 beta.

You copied the doc_spread_presets.propcol file from ...\Affinity\Photo\1.0\user folder. So, to use that file in the beta it would need to go into ...\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Beta)\user.

You put it into ...\Affinity\Photo, which won't work.

the Question how to export the presets file in My Preset list still not sloved

There is no way to export them. All you can do is copy the internal file around as we have been discussing.

1. i deleted doc_spread_presets.propcol but causes no any influence to My Presets in 1.8.5.703 (Old Version witch need to transfer the image presets in File->New->My Presets)

2.  i move doc_spread_presets.propcol into 1.0 Beta(address: %AppData%\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Beta)\user)and get no import to 1.9.0.876(NEW Version)

That works for me (just tried it before my last post). Did you close Photo first, and restart it afterward?

Did you replace the existing file that was there?

i choose move to another folder (%AppData%\Roaming\Affinity\Photo) as delete action

660465375_iputithere(thefile).png.25835ea9fee49da576ae07e82d7ec780.png

and after the action , i test Old one, i opened 1.8.5.703 all there no lost , so maybe that file (doc_spread_presets.propcol ) doesn't contain  presets in File ->New->My Presets

1103398316_deletedthefilebutstillhavepreset.thumb.png.8f828ebf5da08341b2191f66099267a2.png

then i copy and paste the file (doc_spread_presets.propcol ) to 1.9‘s destination %AppData%\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Beta)\user

and from red mark you can see it's create in 12.4 so it's not the orginal one it's my paste one (new one)

doc_spread_presets_propcol.png.9b896eb3c93bd4e195f6012a5a91b1b6.png

then i opened 1.9.0.876 show no any import and no error

1371549677_noPresets.thumb.png.a3915b7ff905e744fb1b506a1bc5b429.png

so my preset with OPPO as Prefix such as (OPPO 1440x3168) no there

BTW : i create a new test by create a preset in 1.9 (and get doc_spread_presets.propcol create and create date is today )and then paste the doc_spread_presets.propcol file get an empty List  ,so you are correct that doc_spread_presets.propcol contain the preset so i just need to transfer it all should be done ,but maybe the file have issue (but why 1.8.5.703 still have preset i already deleted it and with file )

1710033376_haveinfluencein1.9.thumb.png.b27b796cd6a35aec91ccdde3288f480c.png

and more : in final doc_spread_presets.propcol get lost by empty the trash with multiple version (i get puzzled witch is the ancient one ),so if have way to allow the 1.8.5.703 it self to recreate a new one (i mean after delete and reopen it it will not create a new doc_spread_presets.propcol as 1.9 does now) or other way to save my Presets all are welcome

At this point I am confused and I have no idea what you have deleted, and where you deleted it from, and which files you have copied to which directories.

Sorry.

All I can say is that when I copy doc_spread_presets.propcol from an Affinity 1.8 application to the corresponding Affinity 1.9 beta application it works, and transfers my "new document" presets.

i recreate all my presets in 1.9 as the final solution , hope the issue will not happen again in the new version affinity photo(END)
