Caroline L Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hi, I'm finally transitioning from Drawplus to Affinity... and I've sat through some videos today which have answered most of my questions but I still have a couple - the first being: In Drawplus I use 'crop to object' a lot - and I'm sure this must be possible in Affinity but I can't find it and I can't find the answer on YouTube. Is it now called something else? I've also just been told that sadly 'auto trace' is no longer a feature - is it being brought in soon? :) Quote
Staff stokerg Posted December 16, 2020 Staff Posted December 16, 2020 Hi @Caroline L, We don't have a crop to object option. But from looking at this feature in DrawPlus it mainly seems to be used for filling shapes with an image. There a number of way to do this in Designer and the quickest method i find, is to place a shape on the canvas and with that shape selected, in the top right corner of Affinity we have some target modes, if you click on the 'Insert Inside The Selection' icon and then click File>Place and select your image, you can then drag that out over the shape and it will fill the shape with your image. If you had been using the Crop To Object feature for something else, let me know and i'll see if i can help further We don't have any timeframe on when autotrace will be introduced but i know if you search the Forums for autotrace you should find a number of recommendations from other users of which apps they use for this Quote

Maybe I’m going mad but I can’t see anything relating to ‘target’ mode? Would this also work for multiple shapes grouped together? I do that a lot Quote
