AD software version conflict: trial-generated file conversion to purchased version

Recommended Posts

Hello,

For tech support, please: Last month I downloaded the 10-day software trial and created a work that grew extensive and labor-intensive as I learned to use the product over subsequent weeks. All work for the time being was saved to my desktop without closing the program. On the 9th day or so, pleased with AD's performance and intending to continue, I purchased it, keeping my active file in use additional weeks without expecting conversion issues since I bought the product.

Today my new MacBook Pro started slowing. Suspecting its RAM was reaching capacity, I saved changes before closing the program to reopen. Saved files however, apparently won't reopen under the purchased software version, and the trial expired weeks ago. I believed post-trial software use was only possible because I'd paid for it. How do I now reopen/convert/recover files via AD-proper?  Please provide a solution.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums :)

If you open the Mac App Store version of Affinity Designer and go to the File > Open, do your documents open? Do you get any messages when trying to open your documents in the paid version?

Is it possible to send us one of the documents you're unable to open? If so, please send it to support@seriflabs.com and include a link to this thread :)

Thanks kindly for your reply.

I tried precisely that first recourse (re-opening the file via purchased software version) before posting for help, yet the file simply won't open, and no error message appears. There's also no buffering symbol indicating the MacBook's attempting to open it.

When I attempt re-opening directly off the desktop (via "right-click"), as well as reopening the trial version's icon, I get AD error messages indicating the trial has expired. I even downloaded the trial once again, thinking that'd work - nothing.

The work piece is a logo under trademark development. There's an early version (also rendered during trial period; should behave in like manner) I'm comfortable sending, but would prefer via email, please, if an address may be supplied.

Thanks again.

Hi M. Greg H.

If you could please send your file to affinity (@) serif.com we will look into this further. Could you also please try making sure you have the trial removed by dragging it from your Applications folder to the Trash. Thank you :)
