boorowaboy Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Where do you find how to make Affinity add it's .(affinity Publisher) or whatever it is to the end of the file. Otherwise its hopeless trying to find the file. Why doesn't it come up automatically when a file is saved? Like; .docx or .psd? Quote
Joachim_L Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 On MacOS / Windows you can hide the file extensions if you want. Maybe this is here the case for you? boorowaboy Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Hi Thanks for the prompt reply. As you can see I am a recent user having used Indesign for many years. I want to be able to see the original file type quickly and so the .Af or what ever. How do you make Affinity distinguish itself. Below is the problem if they are listed as Icons. The jpeg is the artwork but the difference between an Indesign file and the working Affinity file is huge. The Affinity Icon is hopelessly inconspicuous. Quote
Joachim_L Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 It looks like your Affinity document is saved with a thumbnail and your OS is showing this thumbnail. You can turn this off in Preferences >> General >> Save thumbnails with documents Quote ------ Windows 10 | i5-8500 CPU | Intel UHD 630 Graphics | 32 GB RAM | Latest Retail and Beta versions of complete Affinity range installed
boorowaboy Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Hi Joachim L Thanks for that, I have just made that change and the Affinity Icon appears. As a designer I think they could do more to make their Icon visible. Anyway thanks for the info and time difference. Quote
Staff stokerg Posted December 12, 2020 Staff Posted December 12, 2020 Hi @boorowaboy, In Preferences for Publisher on the General section, there is an option to 'Automatically Hide The Extension'. Try disabling this and then saving a file and you should then get the .afpub shown as part of the file name Quote
