B. Kevin Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 I’ve exhausted every thing I know to figure this out. I created a text design with Designer from this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnyl6I1X4FE&t=381s I have lines inside the letter O in the word logic. I can not figure out how to cut or punch out the lines. Tried to divide the letter, ungroup it, and use the inner section to punch out the inside of the ‘O’. I’ve attached a screen shot of what it looks like. Really hoping someone can help me out with this. The font is Speedbeast. Thank you all so much.. Quote

B. Kevin Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Thank you catlover, I was in Amsterdam a couple of years ago for a few weeks, loved it there. I'm going to work with your file. I have all the tools showing and giving it a try. I'm going to recreate my text and see if I can make this work. For some reason I am not getting subtract to show in my text (working with the original, haven't recreated it yet). I've even tried it with the circle in your orientation file and still no subtract. So I'm not doing something correct. Will keep working on it. If you couldn't tell, I'm new to all of this and trying to learn and refuse to give up. Thank you so much for your help. Quote

B. Kevin Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Yes!!! Thank you both so much. It took me a bit but I did it. Only one thing, when I do the repeat lines with "command - J" the lines move in kind of a diagonal curve instead of a straight line, but it works. And overall, I've now learned two new things to add to my designs. Much easier and fewer steps than what I was originally trying to do. I can't tell you both how grateful I am for your help. I really want to learn how to keep getting better at this, would love to be able to help someone like I've been helped. Thank you both again. 🤠 K. Quote

The ‘Power Duplicate’ feature will preserve any transformation (i.e. movement, rotation or scaling) of the copied object, so if you want a straight line you need to make sure that you move the first copy in a straight line. You can use either the Shift key or the Snapping settings to achieve this. firstdefence 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
B. Kevin Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Thank you Alfred, that fixed it. This is one of the most helpful forums I've ever experienced. Alfred 1 Quote
