Erik Kjærbye
In the book Affinity Designer Workbook on page 319 point 5 it reads "With the circle selected, on the context toolbar, click Show Rotation Centre and move teh circle's centre to th middle of the square". I don't know if the interface differs depending on the computer being Mac or Windows? I am using a Microsoft Surface Book 2, and following both the Workbooks for Photo and Designer, sometimes the appropriate controls can be difficault to find - but in this particular case I simply can't find it! Joachim_L
Welcome to the Affinity forums. Perhaps this is meant? Erik Kjærbye
Hi Joachim! Not quite! Thanks for your consern though! As a matter of fact - the control you pointed out had slipped my attention - but it didn't solve the issue! The operation is selecting a circle and rotate (copy) it with a centre outside the circle itself. I add two shots from the book to illustrate. Staff MEB Posted December 10, 2020 Staff Share Posted December 10, 2020 Hi @Erik Kjærbye, Welcome to Affinity Forums The control Joaquim_L pointed out above is correct. You now have to drag the marker that appears in the centre of the circle to the middle of the square then proceed with he rest of the steps (duplicate and rotate the circles). Erik Kjærbye
Ahhh!! I got it! The author meant "drag the transform origin from the centre of the circle to the centre of the square"?! (Still I can't find the referred "Show Rotation Centre" on the context toolbar!) Thanks MEB and Joachim! Joachim_L
Staff Patrick Connor Posted December 10, 2020 Staff Share Posted December 10, 2020 Seems that "Show Rotation Centre" is now called "Enable Transform Origin" in it's tooltip, thanks. @acapstick one for any future reprint Quote Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! Staff MEB Posted December 10, 2020 Staff Share Posted December 10, 2020 Hi @Erik Kjærbye, Show Rotation Centre was the tooltip/identifier used up to version 1.6x. In newer versions the tooltip now reads "Enable Transform Origin" but it's the same command. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
