I downloaded a .psd file that I saved on the icloud drive. When I clicked "share", it should allow me to choose to open it with Affinity Designer, but Designer is not showing up on the list. I checked "more" and it's not there either. What am I doing wrong and/or how can I fix it? Please help. Thanks. Apple support suggested that I uninstall and reinstall the app, would that fix it?

I'm taking an online course, the teacher's video shows that she can open a downloaded file by clicking "share" and selecting AD, but I can't do it. Where is that function on my ipad pro?

Firstly,  Uninstalling and reinstalling will not fix it.

Secondly, No, you are not doing anything wrong. Either IOS or Affinity is at fault. It’s been raised many times but no fix from either.

Workaround: You can use Shortcuts app to create an Open in Designer/Photo shortcut that will appear in your Share Sheet. I have posted an example previously here:

M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB   lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
Affinity Photo 1.10.5 Affinity Design 1.10.5
Affinity Publisher 2, Affinity Designer 2, Affinity Photo 2 and betas.

I am not able to do the shortcuts either as suggested by DM1. I can't download any template from other website to be used in Affinity Designer on my ipad pro at all, unlike what the instructor is doing on my online course videos. Is it possible that the Affinity Designer version that I purchased via the ipad app store does not have the same functionality as that from the Affinity website? Or does it have anything to do with my older ipad pro (3 years old)? This is very frustrating.

After days of frustration - I found out what the problem was. I had Adobe Fresco installed on my ipad pro, somehow it seems to block Affinity Designer from accessing .psd files downloaded from the web. Despite my work around - I downloaded the .psd files on my computer and saved them on my icloud drive, AD cannot access them using "open or import from cloud"; the files were greyed out. Once I uninstalled Fresco on my ipad pro, Affinity Designer showed up on the list of apps from which I can open the .psd files directly now. Also, do not download templates or .psd files from websites using Google - all I could see was a white screen and not able to tell what the download status was, use Safari instead. These should be identified by Affinity Designer to prevent people like me days of frustration - I almost gave up using AD.

Thanks, @Leigh. Having this on a FAQ will be so beneficial to limit the aggravation and anguish of not knowing what to do!!

The uninstalling of another app may not be the solution for everyone, and is not a realistic expectation if uninstalling apps is the only solution. Thankfully I had Fresco only as a trial.
