Welcome to the forums @Bill Ryland

Two of the reasons why the “Save” and “Save As” functions could be inaccessible are:
* you have no document open (there is nothing to save);
* you are editing one of the sample documents (they cannot be saved for copyright reasons).
Is one of these the case, or something else?
If you’re not doing one of these then a full-screen screen grab, and more information about what you are doing, may help us to see what is happening.

P.S. You might need to check the operating system permissions to see if you can save the document but that’s a bigger issue altogether.

Thank you for responding. My apologies for the attached Word doc, I couldn't find any other way send the screenshot. This is a paperback book template that once I do work I want to "Save As." As you can see in the "File" dropdown menu, both Save and Save As are unavailable. This is the same in both my Publisher and my Photo. I am familiar with the Serif PagePlus & PhotoPlus but can't figure this one out. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. I appreciate your help.

Your file is Template (*.aftemplate), not document (*.afpub, *.afdesign, *.afphoto).

This template file has a "Locked" status on it - which is unusual and may mean it is protected from being "copied"

To the OP:

Where did the template file originate from?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
