krunberry
I have tried searching the forums but have come up empty. I am using Designer for a graphic design class and the teacher uses Ai. If this were for converting a Photo file, I totally understand this type of file and wouldn't be here asking. But I am a vector design newbie and I would love to know which file type I should export to for viewing in Ai. Thanks.
Staff MEB Posted September 7, 2015 Staff Share Posted September 7, 2015 Hi krunberry, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) We can't export directly to AI (it's a proprietary format owned by Adobe), so the closest format we have is PDF. Note however that not all features will translate as vectors when opened in Adobe Illustrator ((in particular some gradient and transparency types and FX effects - they will be rasterised). Although this will be improved over time there will be some things that's not possbile to convert directly due to the differences in the file formats.
