The liquify tool produces this kind of weird effect by pushing the border of a black circle pixel which both photoshop and gimp don't. this is not ideal if i want to push some pixels far.

Is there an option to change this behavior?

I have been able to replicate this but only under certain conditions where the Push has been quite large, see first attached image.
In these conditions I don’t know how I might expect the pixels to behave as they have been stretched so far.
I also replicated the situation on a photo (second attached image) and the background seems to be ‘coming through’ so I’m not sure what’s happening there (third attached image is the 'before' image).
If you gave an explanation of what you would expect to see under these conditions then someone may be able to give you an explanation of why you are not seeing it and, possibly, a method of getting what you want.

Hi GaryP, thanks for replying.

It doesn't matter for me whether the push brush size is small or big.

It should look like this example on GIMP or Photoshop. I can push pixel far even across the whole canvas.

For example if I want to push someone's nose long in a photo(though I won't do that because I mostly use it for digital painting), in doing so it gets that kind of effect.

I think only a staff member, or another well-informed expert, can explain exactly what is happening and why.
The present functionality may be expected and there may be way to avoid the ‘holes’, or it may be something that was overlooked, or it could be a bug, but I really don’t have enough information to give an answer.
Someone with the requisite knowledge may give you a proper reply.

I can confirm that the Liquify Persona in Affinity isn't designed in the same manner as GIMP or PS and the result you're seeing is the expected behaviour in Affinity currently, my apologies.
