Michail
I have noticed that some of my menus open to the left - instead of to the right. This is especially noticeable in the "Filter" menu (see screenshot). In other programs I have not noticed this yet. Is this intended? walt.farrell
It's a Windows setting, enabled by Windows when it detects use of a graphics tablet and pen. Michail
Thanks a lot @walt.farrell, that solved the problem. However, there are two mysteries: What changed it, if I didn't do it? This option is so hidden that you can't change it by accident. To my knowledge the effect was only visible in Affinity Photo. In Photoshop, for example, all menus were opened normally to the right. walt.farrell
For #2 perhaps PS does something specific to override the option the user has chosen (or the option that Windows defaulted to)? For #1, did you plug in a drawing tablet? Michail
Sometimes I have connected a drawing tablet. But that has never led to such a change before.
Mark Ingram
As @walt.farrell says, this is a Windows option (we don't change it, but I've had it happen to me before when plugging in a tablet). I don't know why Photoshop don't adhere to the setting, perhaps they draw their own menus, and don't bother to query that value from Windows. walt.farrell
19 hours ago, Michail said: This is especially noticeable in the "Filter" menu Windows will also switch the direction the pulldown opens (left, right) to keep everything on the screen. So if you're near the right edge of the screen, and any of the popup items would extend off the right edge, the popup will open to the left. Perhaps your entries with their names in German are wide enough to cause that when you're using the Filters menu.
