In Designer, Document Setup should let you change the size of the document if you have a canvas-based document. But if you use Artboards, I think you need to resize each Artboard individually using the Transform panel. ROBERT ALVAREZ Posted December 8, 2020 Author Posted December 8, 2020 looking in help for CANVAS only found clip to canvas. when starting a new document is document and canvas the same?? before resizing back ground is 1712 x 103 , it is wht/gray squares with a png text on top. change to 1712 x 250 and background is still the same. walt.farrell Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 If you have a solid gray background it is probably the workspace or pasteboard, and is not related to the size of your canvas or document. A white/gray checkerboard would be part of your document, and indictes transparency. How did you create the document? Did you use File > New, or did you use File > Open? If you used File > New and did not select the Create Artboard option, or if you used File > Open, then you have a canvas. But if you have a white/gray checkerboard, with an image on top of it, you probably used File > New, and then used File > Place or drag/drop to get an image on top of it, and the image is smaller than the canvas. Can you give a screenshot including the workspace and the Layers panel, and describe further what you're trying to accomplish? ROBERT ALVAREZ Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 I did new file in pixels, here is the file. had height 103 , tried to change to 250 change did not happen. account software coming in 2021.afdesign Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Thanks. Having the document makes the structure clearer to me. Your document is 250px in height, so you were apparently successful in changing it. There is one aspect that may be confusing you: If you change the document height the height is changed, but the appearance of the document on the screen does not change. All that visibly changes is the markings on the rulers (if the rulers are displayed) that show the document's size. Your transparent background is 250px in height in the .afdesign document you attached above. Here is a screenshot showing part of it, next to the ruler: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. ROBERT ALVAREZ Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 then when document was resize in height the text also was changed in height. there are two things, the background which is the checkered wht/gray and the text. I wanted to increase the background so there would be more space on top and bottom of the text. did not expect both to be resized. Quote
ROBERT ALVAREZ Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 I just increase the height to 500 and the ruler still shows 250. Looks like nothing happened. Quote
ROBERT ALVAREZ Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 looked again at document size and it was 250, changed to 500 and saved file. still had 250 instead of the 500 that I changed. program malfunction?? now about the fourth time I changed to 500 and now it stayed at 500. did fiddle with the lock / unlock icon. should it be locked or unlocked. had it unlocked all the time. the text size looked the same, and the space about looked the same. you would think the the size would taller and the width narrow. looks like it stretched when it was unlocked. Quote
ROBERT ALVAREZ Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 ok see what happening , I change to 1000 and 500 and presto I could the the changes . so looks like if you only change one (w or h) then the display does not change correctly if you change only the h then the w is stretched when locked or unlocked the original text size gets changed too.
