When you purchase any Affinity product, do you have to purchase new versions?  I assume minor updates are free?  I hope it follows the App model where you purchase one copy and you get all future full/update/maintenance releases for free?

Thanks,

Brent

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

If you were to purchase today, you'd get 1.8.5 (Windows) or 1.8.6 (Mac).

All updates until 2.0 would be covered without additional payments. That would get you anything else in 1.8, and all the 1.9.x releases. And if Serif releases 1.10, 1.11, etc. you would also get those.

But if/when Serif releases version 2.x you would need to make a new purchase of you want that release. Or you could stay with the last 1.x release, whatever it was.

so the license covers minor and maintenance releases.  for New Versions, you have to re-up or re-purchase if  I understand you correctly.  Do they usually go into the double digit "minor" releases?  May not know since they are just in the v1.x releases.  Maybe I'll get lucky and they will.  I plan to get the whole bundle including the workbook now and will decide later which ones I upgrade.

Thanks

We have no idea what the numbering or timing for future releases (beyond 1.9) will look like.

(But Serif staff have mentioned the possibility of 1.10 and beyond.)
