RainerH Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Hello toghether, by creating a importand document I come more and more to the awareness that Affinity Publisher has many loose functions. I want to include tables into my text so I pinned then inline. Now after doing this I no longer can edit the text in the table cells. I think publisher is a happy little piece of software to create a 4 page broshure but for layouting a specialist or reference book or a schoolarly work it is not so fine. Best regards Rainer Quote
RainerH Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 Oh what a cumbersome behavior.... to edit a table that's adjusted inline you have to choose move tool klick on the table to choose it klick on the table tool (shortcut T doesn't work, because the test tool has also shortcut T - what a mess) klick n the table now you can edit it absolutely crazy. OK you can give the table tool an other shortcut ... Quote
carl123 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 to edit a table that's adjusted inline you have to choose Table tool Alt klick on the table to choose it Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. RainerH Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Hello carl123, thank you! That's much easier than my solution but I've found out another way and I think that'S the easiest: While typing in the textframe you onla have to move the cursor to the top of the table so that it's vertical center is placed a little bit over the frame of the top cell. fter a klick here the table is in edit mode. Please have a look to the attached file. Rainer Quote
carl123 Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Yes, nice spot and it works But ALT+Click will allow you to go directly to a particular cell. E.g. if you have a large table and notice a spelling mistake in a particular cell and if you are already typing in a text frame you don't first need to switch to the Table Tool to use ALT+Click Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. RainerH Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Thank you for the information, that it isn't necessary to choose the table tool before Alt-clicking in the table. So this is the fastest and easiest way to reach the goal. Quote
