I'm having a problem that other users have previously identified, namely raw files brought into AP are appearing extremely underexposed and dark.  In particular, this has occurred with the cr2 raw files from a newly acquired Canon 5D Mk IV  - the file are coming out (i.e, when opened in AP raw persona) extremely dark, far too dark.   I don't seem to have the same problem with raw files from my 5DSR or 80D.  I've done nothing differently to what I've been doing in previous years in terms of work flow.

Am using AP version 1.8.5.703.

Clearly I am not the only one with this issue.  I am not even bothering to use AP for these files because even with bringing up exposure, lightening the raw file, etc, it still doesn't look quite right.  So.......am back to using Lightroom.

Hi @Zorro1,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

I've downloaded a sample RAW file from this camera here and I'm not seeing the same issue as you currently. Below is the comparison with the JPEG produced by the camera on the left, and the RAW file in AP on the right -

markIV.jpg

The JPEG does appear to be slightly brighter - but as this JPEG has been post-processed by the camera this is to be expected.

Can you please provide a screenshot of the result you're seeing in Photo currently?

Does this happen with all of your 5D Mk IV RAW files, or only some of them?

This issue can be caused by many different reasons, some of the time when dark RAW files are reported it's simply that the customer doesn't understand the difference between RAW and processed JPEG files. I don't believe this is the case here, but I would ask you to look at other 'reports' with a grain of salt - as other than this it's usually a local machine setting or a lack of support for the camera in the app that causes the issue to be reported.

I am certainly hopefully we can walk through resolving this issue with you, if you wish :)
