Kevin Mulholland Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Hi All Having problem importing "525 Mystical Lights - Overlay Collection" into Affinity Photo and Designer. Click on import in the asset screen and I get a file import failure message. Have tried a previously loaded asset and that loads ok both in Photo and Designer which appears to point to the Mystical Lights collection being at fault but just looking to see if anyone else having the same issue. Running Windows 10 with ver 1.8.5.703 of Affinity photo. Also got issue trying to import macros into Photo. Click on import icon, "import" text appears but nothing happens. Ta Kevin Quote

Are you using the Library panel or the Macro panel? Running Windows 10 with ver 1.8.5.703 of Affinity photo. That collection has a mix of .zip and .afassets files to download. Which one(s) are giving you problems? Again, if it's something about an invalid format perhaps trying another download would help, but if you have a specific file name that would help any investigation. Kevin Mulholland Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 Hi Walt Another update. Downloaded all the files associated with Mystical Lights and tried again, as you suggested. Went to Library - Import Macros - mystical-lights.afmacros. get "unexpected macros format " - "failed to load file ....." Retried download again with same result. Then tried to import a 2nd copy of a previously downloaded macros (from a few months ago) which worked ok. --------------------------------------------------- With regard to the assets side of this software package, I have been unable to install any, using Assets - import assets. Just get "Import failed, unable to import file" This happens with all the assets, ( 1 to 8 ). Here again I can install a different asset that I previously had on my system with no issues. ---------------------------------------- With the zip files associated with this package I am unable to open up the first few, (modules 1 to 4). Just get "compressed folder is invalid" and I am told that the folder is empty when right clicking on file and trying to "Extract All" in explorer, although all zip files appear to have the correct size in explorer. Modules 5 & 6 open ok, and files are readable. I have attached some of my download files below Again, many thanks for your assistance Kevin 1-prism-distortion.zip mystical-lights.afmacros 5-light-leaks.afassets Quote
firstdefence Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I’d say these are all corrupt or bad downloads, the prism zip file unzips some of the jpgs but about 8 or 9 fail to unzip. Just a thought but have you tried a different browser like Opera to download these files Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... walt.farrell Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Chrome and Edge are very close to being the same browser, at least if you have the latest version of Edge. Try Firefox. In any case, I cannot open your .zip file, nor your .afassets file. But your .afmacros file works fine for me. Edit: 7Zip will open that .zip file, but only shows about 15 of the 100 files that should be there. All the files have the proper sizes, at least when rounded to KB, but obviously not the right content. firstdefence Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 I’ve known antivirus intervention corrupt downloads. A Mod might be able to get the files checked on the server but if others have had success in downloading it is likely something is interfering with your downloads. Kevin Mulholland Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 Evening All Just want to report that my importing of macros and assets into Affinity Photo has been sorted. I copy files using Firefox on my linux notebook onto a usb pen and then copied them to my Windows system. From there, there installed as they should. I wish to thank all the people who took the time to help me with this issue. I intend to disable the anti virus and try the download again on my computer to see if I can pinpoint the exact problem when I get a bit of free time. Many thanks All Kevin walt.farrell 1 Quote
