drjskatre Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I recently upgraded to 1.8.5 version, and found that all my macros created over last few months are lost. Very frustrating. Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Ouch. Just to be sure: They were created in the 1.8 retail version, not in one of the betas? And you're looking in the Photo application? if you make system backups you may be able to find a backed-up copy of your macros.propcol file and restore it. Twolane Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Walt, correct me if I'm wrong, but if I interpret this post "[FAQ] What exactly do the Clear User Data options clear?" properly, I believe that I can back up all of my settings in the appropriate directories for my Windows Affinity suite in the event of a disk misfortune. If that is in fact true, can I also use the appropriate directories to transfer to my two laptops all of my Affinity macros, brushes, assets, dictionary with added words, etc? Yes, I believe that would work for all the files. I've only done it with a subset of them, but it was successful. If you play around with this, make sure you do it with the applications closed, and keep backup copies of the original files before you replace them Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Twolane Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Edited to add that I have dictionary success in the file transfer between laptops. Thanks, Walt. I'll start with my dictionary on Laptop#1, and copy it to Laptop#2 to see what I end up with in a Publisher pdf I'm working on. If that goes well, I'll experiment a bit with renaming and replacing. A relevant settings copy routine would be nice to have if one works on more than one laptop. Even alone for backups of the relevant settings for a single computer would be a "nice to have". drjskatre Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 I shouldn't have updated this time. Not only I lost all my collection of macros, I can't save them anymore. Everytime I start the application, I find only the default macros and nothing I made in the last session. Can I go back to earlier version? Jowday 1 Quote
