Font Issues in PDF Export

I'm using Affinity Publisher with Windows 10. Every time I try to export a document to a PDF (for digital), there are issues with the fonts. If I use the font, and not curved lines, some (but not all) capital a's are displayed as slashes (i.e. A --> /), and if I convert the text into curved lines, then there is an issue with consistency, so some lowercase l's are thicker or thinner. Because I use Windows, not Mac, there is no 'Font Reset' option. Are there any other fixes or changes in settings that can solve this?
