Resource files for Design

Recommended Posts

Have the book and was hunting down the resource files.  I managed to get the first file whch is the artboard.  But now typing in what is listed on page 133 is coming up as a web page error.  Is it not possible to downoad the whole set of files instead of having to type in each seperate file as I reach the chapter.  I typed the following by the way:  HTTPS:/affin.co/panther_01_documentsetup.afdesign

Thankyou.

Microsoft - Like entering your home and opening the stainless steel kitchen door, with a Popup: 'Do you really want to open this door'? Then looking for the dishwasher and finding it stored in the living room where you have to download a water supply from the app store, then you have to buy microsoft compliant soap, remove the carpet only to be told that it is glued to the floor.. Don't forget to make multiple copies of your front door key and post them to all who demand access to all the doors inside your home including the windows and outside shed.

Apple - Like entering your home and opening the oak framed Kitchen door and finding the dishwasher right in front you ready to be switched on, soap supplied, and water that comes through a water softener.  Ah the front door key is yours and it only needs to open the front door.

There’s a single zip file for each chapter. Just type

https://affin.co/

followed by the project name.

That is what I have tried but one gets a constant error 404 message on every file. For example I just typed in https://affin.co/panther_sketch.jpg

The ‘sketch’ JPEG is just one of the files in the zip archive for the panther project. ;)

You're typing too much. Just follow the instructions in the book ant type exactly what it told you to.

I'm sorry, but I am not being careless here.  The first mention about how to grab resources is on Page 9  QUOTE:  Example on how to get Resources - https://affin.co/panther

I have this one. No problem.  How come I get this but am unable to grab anymore???

Then on page 106 you get : core_skills.afdesign - exactly how am I supposed to grab this?  There are no instructions really on what to type.  You are given a complete file name in green which you are told to type and I did, but many of them are showing a page 404 error.

All you are given on page 9 is an example file name, now when I follow this example to the letter, with the other file names I am getting nothing.

For example:  https://affin.co/core_skills_artboards  or https://affin.co/core_skills_artboards.afdesign, the latter is the correct example.  But neither work. And this is on page 75 by the way.

I have grabbed links and files in this manner before from other books, without this kind of trouble, I am not computer illiterate.  So please explain your instructions as to what you intend when you say You have to type exactly what  is given.......That is what I am doing all evenng.

The zip archive at https://affin.co/coreskills — a resource which is available to everyone, so it’s all right to share the link here — contains the *.afdesign file that you mention. The file at that URL is core_skills.zip (but you don’t type the underscore or the .zip extension to access the download). Once successfully downloaded, extract the contents of the archive in the usual way.

That one URL got you a .zip file. Everything you need for that section of the book is in that zip file; just unzip it.

Hi Alfred, I have things sorted now.  One thing before I thank you for your time is this, there is not one mention of typing in the ZIP extension.  My confusion was that I misunderstood the method, I was typing in the address of each file for the most part.  But I thank you for your trouble.

Yes I know Walt, that they come with zip files.  Anyway, I am sorry that i seem like dumbo the elephant here, I mis-interpreted the method by which I was supposed to access the whole file, as explained above.  Thankyou for your time.  I wish you both a pleasant week.
