Am new to forum but would like to find an answer to this query please. Have recently updated Mac to Big Sur only to find that my Google Nik Collection has disappeared. Have downloaded the collection again  but when I come to reinstall I get this message:

' this version of Nik Collection requires Mac OS 10.7 or newer in order to proceed with the installation process. The Installer will now quit'.

I'm running 11.0.1 Big Sur.

Can anyone help?

Hi @Tapper,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Are you sure it was really removed/disappeared after the update to Big Sur? Have you checked if the Nik Collection folder (along with all the standalone app files inside) was still inside the Applications folder? It's possible you have simply lost the Photoshop Plugins configuration in Affinity Photo - thus they don't appears in the Filters menu anymore. It's worth checking if it's still there before moving forward with other options.

Regarding the error message/issue installing Nik Collection on Big Sur from scratch this is due to a bug in the Nik Collection installer which was already fixed by DxO. Go to their website and download the latest version of the DxO installer and it should run/install properly on Big Sur.

Thanks MEB. It is showing the Nik Collection in applications folder. How do I then reinstate the photoshop plugins configuration? ( I'm only a beginner at computers)  Tried to find the installer to download on the DxO site to no avail, and a quick email to them caused a return message to say that the old google collection was not supported and to purchase the new version 3............se?

Can you help please?

Only now i have realised you are installing the original Nik Collection by Google (the free version). For some reason i missed the Google reference in the thread's title. Let me try this version in macOS Big Sur. If the installer fails as you are reporting, i'm afraid there's no way to install the free Google version from now on (on Big Sur and newer macOS versions). If you haven't uninstalled the free Google version yet, you may still have a chance to get it running in macOS Big Sur. Do you remember where you have installed the plugin files (not the app files) when you first installed it on macOS Catalina? Or did you install Nik Collection  for Photoshop (if you also use it) and then pointed Affinity Photo to the Photoshop plugins folder?

Let me check a few things and i will get back to you as soon a i have news.

Thanks again. I haven't uninstalled the collection. Yes I installed the application in Photoshop and it works well on version 22.0.1. I did install using High Sierra and probably earlier than that; I did purchase Affinity at the NEC many years ago at the Photography show.when it was only for Macs.

Unfortunately affinity 1.8.6. is giving me this problem. I'm hoping to unsubscribe to Adobe when I get a little more proficient in Affinity. Hence my query.

Grateful thanks for taking the time and trouble to help me.

Hi Tapper;
Thanks for the additional info. If you have the plugins working in Photoshop, set Affinity Photo Preferences, Photoshop Plugins section as below:

1. In the Plugins Search Folders, click the Add button and browse to: Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2021/Plug-ins/Google
2. In the Plugin Support Folders section, remove any entry that may be there if necessary, then click the Authorize Global button, then press Authorise button again in the Finder dialog that will open.
3. Tick Allow "Unknown" plugins to be used
4. Restart Affinity Photo

After the restart it should look like the screenshot below:

If the button is greyed out it's because the app was already/previously authorised. That's why i said in point 2: In the Plugin Support Folders section, remove any entry that may be there if necessary, then click the Authorize Global button, then press Authorise button again in the Finder dialog that will open.
The forward slash you see in the Plugin Support Folders section is the path that's aded when you Authorise the app globally. If you delete that entry, the Global Authorise button becomes available again. In any case the plugins are now setup up properly and (I'm happy to know) working correctly for you.

I have reinstalled the NIK (DXO) collection.  Affinity is displaying "unkown" and "working plugins.  So far so good. When I am trying to launch NIK in Affinity photo the plugins won't start.  I am on Mac OS Big 11.1 on Mac mini with M1 ARM chip.
