PeteNice Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 I'm on MacOS High Sierra. When I enter "Separated Mode" the Studio tools vanish. I've tried toggling the "Hide Studio" option, I've tried resetting the application preferences to the default on startup. Without the studio tools menu, "Separated Mode" is not usable. Screenshot attached. Quote
Staff MEB Posted November 27, 2020 Staff Posted November 27, 2020 Hi @PeteNice, Have you tried to reset the Studio itself? Menu View > Studio > Reset Studio. I'm aware you tried to reset the app to the defaults on startup which should reset the whole thing but there may be some issue with the app reset itself. I don't have a system running High Sierra at the moment to check myself. If it still doesn't work after a Studio Reset let us know. Are you using a dual (more more) monitor config/setup? Nice ness Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Yes, I tried “reset studio” several times. I also tried dragging individual studio menus out to “floating” before switching to “separated mode” ultimately what I want to do is drag layers from one window to another, and by shift dragging I want them to appear in exactly the same spot as in the origin doc. thank you for your continued support Quote
Staff MEB Posted November 29, 2020 Staff Posted November 29, 2020 Hi @Nice ness (PeterNice), Assuming the documents have the same size, you should be able to drag a layer from one document over the canvas of the other to add it exactly in the same spot as the original without pressing shift. It's working fine on my system (Mojave) but i do not have one running macOS High Sierra to check if it's an issue specific to that macOS version. I will ask a colleague to check this. Are you using a single monitor or a multi-monitor config? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

It would probably be less confusing all around if the two accounts could be merged (as long as the user in question doesn’t object, of course). PeteNice Posted November 30, 2020 Author Posted November 30, 2020 Yup, sorry, Nice Ness and PeteNice are one in the same, I was checking in on the thread over the holiday from my phone. Please feel free to merge if that's helpful... Anyhoo, I'm happy to report that I found a solution. In Separated Mode I toggled the option Window > Clean up Floating Windows > On App Screen, and the studio tools appeared. I'll try to recreate the issue and post screenshots. Alfred 1 Quote
PeteNice Posted November 30, 2020 Author Posted November 30, 2020 Whelp, I can't recreate the issue. So, this might be an edge case related to the fact that this was the first time I've used Separated Mode, since I began working with Affinity Designer about six months ago. Thanks for your help, consider this thread resolved. Quote
