Permissions blocking almost everything.

Recommended Posts

I am using MacOS Big Sur 11.0.1. I am using the 1.8.6 version of Affinity, downloaded from the App Store.

Basically, I am kind of going nuts as I use Affinity Designer for work and it's really limiting my output. I am generally unable to open, save, or export any document. Once every maybe 30 times something will work but that is the exception. I keep getting various errors about permissions or just "failed" exports.

This was occurring occasionally before I updated to Big Sur, but it's really ramped up since then. I have been designing in Photo for now, but this is not ideal for me as a graphic designer. Additionally, I have had the errors appear at least once while using Photo.

I have made sure that Affinity has full permission in System Preferences. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I even tried reformatting my MacBook. I also deleted all of my fonts from my "user" folder and reinstalled only some and made sure they were validated. It's super frustrating and generally scary considering these macs are not cheap. Is there anything that can be done or is my computer toast??

Hi @chelseajcraig,

Welcome to the forum

There have been many reported permission issues with the Big Sur update that affects many apps can you please add the Affinity Designer app to the Full File Access list as shown in the screen shot below and please let me know if you are still getting permission issues.
