George14 Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Hello, I updated the affinity designer to 1.8.6. and each time I turn on the program, an empty white paper window opens without a tool. I tried uninstalling and installing affinity desginer but it didn't help. I have a Macbook Pro 2020 with an Intel processor and the mac OS is Bigsur. Please help Quote
GarryP Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Welcome to the forums @George14 Try pressing the TAB key to see if everything comes back. One thing that I’m curious about is that, when I start Designer, I don’t automatically get an open document as you seem to have. How do you start Designer? Quote

Yes, I described it incorrectly, I turn on the designer, choose a format such as A4, and then I see an empty window without a tool with white paper. Quote

I think holding ctrl whilst starting the program will give you an option to reset it which might help. Unfortunately, I tried it and it didn't help either Quote
GarryP Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 You should see the Tools and other UI elements as soon as you open the application (unless you, or something, have switched them off). Have a look in the “View → Studio” menu and see if “Show Left Studio” and “Show Right Studio” are both ticked. If not, tick them both. If that doesn’t work can you give us a screen-shot showing your “View → Studio” menu open so we can see how things are? My attached image shows what we are looking for (red dots particularly). Quote

If the latter, you need to use Launchpad: open Launchpad and launch the app by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking once on the Designer icon, making sure that you keep the Ctrl key held down until the dialog appears. George14 Posted November 24, 2020 Author Posted November 24, 2020 Fixed, I uninstalled the application and deleted all its data from the finder and reinstalled and the tools are back. Unfortunately, the application settings are gone, but it doesn't matter if I set them again. Thanks to everyone for the help! Alfred 1 Quote
