Espen A
Hi Im going to make album art and want it to have that old vinyl record look. Anybody know where i can find background paper texture for this purpose?
GarryP
The answer to that would very much depend on what you mean by “that old vinyl record look”, specifically what you mean by “old” and “look”. If you can give us an example of what you want to make your artwork look like, and tell us what part of it you want to replicate, then we can probably give you some suggestions as to how you might be able to replicate it. Espen A
Sure. Im not going to replicate any design. Other than experimenting with textured paper backgrounds in different colors and level of distressness than can resemble whats being used on an album cover. Its a nice example above although its a bit in the extreme end and it looks like the inner sleeve. Might be fun trying to use that if its ok. v_kyr
You can also build your own backgrounds, starting with the main background color you want, adjust coloring/lighting/gradients... etc. and then apply some grunge-filters on/over certain selected areas of your background etc. - Take a look through the by Affinity supplied filters and what they do. iroxsofficial
Hi! Yes but are those examples royalty free? That's the question. Are that free stock photos that can be used for commercial purposes? v_kyr
wonderings
If you do not want to pay for stock images you can use this site: https://unsplash.com Royalty free and will probably have something that will work for you. iroxsofficial
jmwellborn
@wonderings Perhaps it might be an idea to explain to @iroxsofficial (by the way, Welcome to the Forums!) that although Unsplash also is available in the Stock Panel, there is currently a glitch. It can be overcome by double clicking on a chosen image in the Stock Panel with a blue border around it, which sends you directly to the chosen image on the Unsplash website, then right-clicking EDIT>Copy and then back to the Affinity document and EDIT>Paste. Very convoluted, but it does work. Pexels and Pixabay work as they should in the Stock Panel. iroxsofficial 1 Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.6. iroxsofficial
Thank you @jmwellborn. But to be honest I was wondering if especially this picture is royalty-free: Because I might use it for commercial purposes if it is.
jmwellborn
@iroxsofficial You are welcome. Perhaps you might ask @v_kyr who posted the image back in 2020? iroxsofficial 1 Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.6. I only test and do some light playing around with the Affinity apps as I watch it grow. All my word is done in Adobe. When I use Unsplash I use the website.
