Julie B Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 HI, Smart objects works great when the file is embedded to add the photo. I have run across a couple files where it states "enter image here" but it is not embedded. When you click on it, you can see the handles where the image would be, but no way to change or see the image. Nothing happens. Is there any fix for this? Quote
Staff Lee D Posted November 22, 2020 Staff Posted November 22, 2020 Have you tried using File > Place to insert your image and then click drag on the layer into the same position in the layer stack and then turn off the Your Image3 layer? Quote
lindslb Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Hello, I am having the same problem. I have mockup files that show click here to add my design but they do not allow me to add anything. They do not say embedded they are showing as a pixel layer and when I double click on it I do not have the option to edit document like it said to do in a tutorial I watched on using smart objects with Affinity. I do also have import PSD smart objects where possible checked. This is happening with several mockup files I have. I also have another mockup file and the whole thing shows as grey and white squares. When I look through the layers its showing red around the check box to see or hide a layer. Please help me figure out what I am doing wrong so that I can use these files correctly. I am using version 1.8.5.703 on Windows. Thank you! Quote

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums. For that case, just use File > Place to add your image just above the layer you have selected, then adjust its shape and position to fit into the gift tag. There's no need to edit the layer separately. 47 minutes ago, lindslb said: I also have another mockup file and the whole thing shows as grey and white squares. Again, just add your image into the file, resize it and move it to fit into the bounding box you have selected, and that should get you started. lindslb Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Thanks for the tip Walt. I will try placing the image. But in the second problem I am experiencing I am not sure how that will work since I can not see the mockup image at all. All I see is the grey and white checkered boxes. I wasn't sure if the red around the checked boxes to see or hide the layer was the reason I can not see the image at all. Thank you walt.farrell 1 Quote

Thank you In your screenshot, the Group named "Mockup" has been made invisible. You will need to place a tick in its visibility checkbox. walt.farrell 1 Quote
