jeckibones
Hello, I'm trying to subtract the ammonite logo from the paint splat in Designer so I can see the background through the holes but the option is greyed out. Is it because one layer is vector and the other is pixel? Also tried converting the paint splat to curves (saw suggestion on a previous forum thread) but it won't let me do that either. Any advice on where I'm going wrong much appreciated!
Staff MEB Posted November 19, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 19, 2020 Hi @jeckibones, Welcome to Affinity Forums Yes, you can only perform boolean operations between vector objects (not with pixel layers). One easy way to solve this is setting the logo layer to Erase blend mode (the dropdown on top of the Layers panel). jeckibones
This sounds promising, but when I change the logo to erase blend mode, it just goes white (changed the colours for easier visibility). Is there a way to get it to do a cookie cutter effect so the background colour shows through? I'd like to have it as a .png ideally with transparency so I don't have to change the logo colour each time.

Staff MEB Posted November 19, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 19, 2020 Hi @jeckibones, Group it with the paint splat layer. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
