RedSnapper Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 I watched a video on YouTube on how to add a border. The easiest way was click effects, choose outline but on windows desktop all I get is the radius with no other options. When I move the radius slider the image blurs. The Gaussian box keeps getting automatically set. Unsetting makes no difference. Does anyone know what's going on? Quote
v_kyr Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 That FX outline stuff is pretty poor and the "inside" alignment is the only one which keeps rectangular borders then, the other alignment options will still create rounded rects instead, even it's mentioned x times in the past before as being sort of a bug. You better create your own borders/frames and clip your images inside, which also gives you much more possibilities for different border types! - To get some ideas look here. lepr Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 @RedSnapper You have placed a tick next to "Outline" on the left of the Layer Effects window, but "Gaussian Blur" is highlighted and so its controls are visible, therefore if you adjust that Radius slider then your image will become blurred. You need to click on the word "Outline" or in the gap to the right of it to highlight it and access the Outline controls that you saw on YouTube. Use an inside-aligned outline as shown in the video, or a centre-aligned outline, but an outside-aligned outline will be not be visible when the layer fills the entire canvas. You can type in a larger outline radius if the slider does not have sufficient range. Quote
