sb101 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 a) there is still a bug with the native afphoto / tiff+layers format. the files don't get downsized on save. eg. for security reasons, you cannot give such files to anyone - eg. crop out people or license plates even if I save as tiff and have "layers" selected (still only 1 flattened layer) the file gets the whole info into it. in the worst case this could lead to legal implications when uploading these files somewhere or handing over to the wrong ppl. etc. (I tried the latest 1.8 and latest 1.9 beta too.) (demo video attached) b) when cropping many images (tiffs), how do I discard pixel information with the crop tool itself > so that I just have to press ctlr-w to save and close? would be a useful option. greets s bug__saving_to_much_infos.mp4 Quote

Have you tried saving as TIFF but without including the Affinity layers? That's what I would use for sharing a TIFF file with someone. I'm finding your video and problem description a bit confusing. You seem to be saving .afphoto files but you're naming them as though they're TIFF files. They're not. The two file formats are completely different, though when you save a .tiff file you can optionally include all the Affinity info (kind of, a TIFF file with a .afphoto file embedded in it). But if you don't want all the Affinity data in your TIFF file just don't include it. sb101 Posted November 15, 2020 Author Posted November 15, 2020 yes, the tiff naming was not the best idea but the problems stay. affinity photo includes the whole data in tiffs with layers and .afphoto files where it should not, as I have them already cropped and trimmed (and rasterized and flattened too just to test w/wo layers) greets s. Or for saving a .afphoto if you Rasterize and Trim after cropping you will make the Crop destructive. sb101 Posted November 15, 2020 Author Posted November 15, 2020 hi walt, if you have a look at the video, you see that I already do that after about 12 secs. therefore I did this bug report ,-) greets s Quote
Staff Gabe Posted November 19, 2020 Staff Posted November 19, 2020 Hi @sb101, Once you Rasterise and Trim after cropping, that data is gone. You have this in your video at 0:15, when you "uncrop" the file and you get the transparent background, so the data is gone. Where is the bug you're describing? Quote
sb101 Posted November 20, 2020 Author Posted November 20, 2020 hi @Gabepls, have a look at the filesize on saving after crop (at the bottom of the video image) -> since it did not get smaller, the whole image is "somewhere" still in that file. greets s Quote
Staff Gabe Posted November 25, 2020 Staff Posted November 25, 2020 We don't streamline native formats (afphoto, afdesign, afpub) with every save. They usually get streamlined when there is 25% of redundant(not accessible to users) data. It seems to be an issue with the way we do this when Rasterise and Trim though, which I've logged with our developers. However, the "extra" data is still not accessible. Quote
