Mac OS Version Compatibility

Recommended Posts

Hi,  I'm a Mac user with elderly software (High Sierra 10.13.6).  Is the new version of Affinity (1.8.6) compatible with this, or should I not install the update?

Hi @RoyN and welcome! According to the App Store, Affinity Photo 1.8.6 requires MacOS 10.7 or later. According to Serif's own Tech Specs it requires MacOS 10.9 or later. High Sierra is 10.13 so you should be ok on that side, but you'd be wise to check the hardware requirements as well. (And to make a backup of your current installation, just in case...)

Cheers,

H

@RoyN

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums :)

1.8.6 is compatible with High Sierra, this release ADDS compatibility with 11.0 Big Sur without removing any earlier compatibility

h_d's info is correct, and both these are true. The Mac App Store version has a lower OS compatibility requirement due to sandboxing issues in Lion 10.7 and Mountain Lion 10.8, meaning the Affinity Store version requires macOS 10.9 or above.
