Hi @dread, Welcome to the forums,

Files that are Affinity Photo Files, should have the extension .afphoto. These are Serif's Affinity Photo proprietary working files. They contain everything being used in the document, including photos, shapes, adjustments, filters, ect. They can get to be quite large.

In order to end up with 559 of them, you must have selected to Save or Save as each of them, or by the screenshot it looks like you ran a macro, that saved those image files as afphoto files.

Are these image files from a cellphone or DSLR? What are you wanting to do with them?

Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. @dread MACRO FOLDER > macro affinity 🤔  Have you run a macro of some description?

DSC (Digital Still Camera)
Enable: view extension so the files show as DSC1507.jpg, DSC1507.png, DSC1507.tiff, DSC1507.NEF the bit after the ’.’ is the extension and indicates what the file is.

The logo is showing on all files because thumbnails probably aren’t enabled/active but until we know what type the files are that doesn’t really matter but you can try this:

Hi, thanks for above. The image files are DSLR  I want A look at them,  delete the crap , without having to use AFf Pht to open them individually no  other photo program can open them I.E. PHotos, Windows media, even paintshop pro, windows explorer just shows what is on the screen shot, I have no idea what the images look like as a group  I took them in spain  put them in  a folder opened the first one in Affinity and everything turned pink I have opened 6 images with Aff and exported them to another folder, why has Aff nicked then put it's logo on them and not let any other program open them? how do I fix that?  I now notice that the date is also wrong seeing as I never took them till 2019 Cheers, Dave

Can you post one of the files here? (Not sure if you'll be able to.)

"then put it's logo on them" the logo isn't "on them" it's just showing a logo instead of the thumbnail. If thumbnails are enabled, Windows should normally show thumbnails for any file type that can be opened in an installed program.

It's not that it won't let other programs open the pictures, only Affinity apps can open Affinity files. The main problem seems to be why they are Affinity files in the first place. I don't think they could have been Affinity Photo files when they were taken by your camera, they are more likely to have been jpg, tiff, or raw files.

The dreaded "open with" issue
Rightclick one of the images and select open with>choose other app>select another app>tick the option "always open with this program" and it will now open in that program.
Probably what happened is that at one point you opened one of these files in APhoto but it didn't have a designated program attached to it, so every new file with that extension will open in APhoto.
I always use rightclick>open with as there are to many programs that can open image files and it could end up opening the program I don't want.

They were a mix of Jpeg and AWR files straight from camera and were fine till I opened on in Aff pht when all the thumb nails changed to Aff Logos if I open with Aff and save  the thumbnail appears with a small logo on thumbnail in right hand corner these I can open in any program with the right click the rest will only open in Aff I could open them all withAff  but that is 545 images I have to open  and until I get the image in aff I have no idea what it looks like whereas if I can open in Photos or even see the thumb nail in explorer i can delete piecemeal.

OK I tried deleting Aff thought it may take everything off the thumbnails but No! so reinstalled. then I went into Aff batch, and asked it to convert all images in that folder to Jpeg which it did and saved all to a new folder. But every jpeg is now at 70mb per image? but it solved the problem of not being able to see the images in EXplorer.... Thank you for all your help  folks, Dread
