Guest
I'm finding there are times when copy/pasting elements from other applications (via PDF; OmniGraffle, Sketch, etc) where it would be really helpful to convert artistic text objects to frame-based text objects. It would also probably make sense to enable the opposite as well; frame-based text objects to artistic text objects. Also, when copy/pasting objects from other apps often what was a single text frame becomes (via the magic of PDF) numerous individual text boxes. It would be really helpful (and a massive time saver) to be able to select a number of text objects and merge them into a single text frame. AndyQ
I need this all the time. There are benefits to both text types, frame and single-point ("artistic") and easily converting between them would be a godsend. GRAFKOM
Repeatedly Serif has been asked for this function, but apparently IT professionals don't have time to deal with trivialities. Vectorstyler, although it is still in beta, can do it. I too, probably 2 years ago, asked for this function of converting artistic text into framed text and vice versa. Two years have passed and what?

OK since then we've had 1.7 and 1.8 released, and 1.9 in beta. Both Photo and Designer have had some major improvements in that time, along with minor improvements. And we have a completely new application, Publisher. That's what. They cannot do everything. This function seems to be of low priority and did not make it into the application, yet. Actually, I do think convertion between Artistic Text and Frame Text could be handy at times. My workaround for this - and it is a poor workaround - is to copy the text, create empty text with the other tool and paste via 'Edit > Paste Special...' as unicode text. Or I simply type in the text if it is just short. But I do not seriously suggest this as a workaround. Just as an example of my practice 🙂 Cheers, d.
