Richard Pring
In one of the excellent Affinity Photo Tutorials, HSL masking is described, with a mask being set using Cntr/Alt/L.Click (Windows). TRied to do this but didn't work. Checked in the "Select" option, and no such short cut exists in it. What am I missing or doig wrong? Old Bruce
Hi and welcome to the forums @Richard Pring, You will probably need to set up the Shortcut in the Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts. You'll find it in the Layers section, not the Select menu. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Staff MEB Posted November 10, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 10, 2020 Hi @Richard Pring, Welcome to Affinity Forums I believe you are referring to creating a luminosity mask. Press and hold ctrl+alt then left-click the pixel layer's thumbnail in the Layers panel to create a luminosity selection then hit the Mask Layer button on the bottom of the Layers panel to create a mask from it. Let me know if that's not the case. Alfred 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Richard Pring
You are so right! I was mistakenly clicking the image at the bottom , not the actual layer thumbnail. Apologies for being thick - it comes with the grey hair!! Thanks
Richard Pring
I was trying to follow advice in the Affinity Photo tutorial:- luminosity masks from layers Now hope to succeed.
