Hello,

I have a strange behaviour with Affinity photo (the problem is the same with designer but I had to chose a forum). It works ok when opening an existing photo but if I try to create a new document, it just hangs and the only solution is to kill it from the task manager window.

Any idea ?

Regards

Hey egtegt, welcome to the Affinity Forums.

How long has this been happening. Please confirm that you are using the retail and not a beta.

You can try a safe reset on the app by following these steps:

Affinity Store version - Go to %AppData%\Affinity\Photo\1.0 and rename 1.0 to 1.1

or

Microsoft Store version - Go to %AppData%\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Store) and rename 1.0 to 1.1

You can acccess the AppData folder by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard and then just type %AppData%

- Also, you can try reinsttalling your latest graphics drivers (don't just update them).

- Check the 3rd party list for known conflicts -

Hello Chris,

Thanks for your answer. I don't know how long it has been happening, maybe some weeks. Most of time I just open existing documents so it is possible that I didn't see it for a while. I use the last retail version (1.8.5.703)

Your suggestion to remove the 1.0 directory worked perfectly. I doubted that it would work because I had the same behaviour for photo and designer so I thought that it had to be something common to both. But I was wrong, it was just the same problem twice.

Thanks a lot :)
