grapefruit909 Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Affinity Designer on Windows 10 crashes whenever opening a new document or an existing one. I've tried several solutions such as fixing the graphics drivers and removing corrupt fonts. The only solution that I've found so far is to delete and reinstall my graphics drivers (Intel UHD 620 integrated GPU), which only works for a few days, then the issue happens again. I've also tried resetting and uninstalling the program and that didn't fix anything. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks! Quote
Dan C Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Hi @grapefruit909, My absolute sincerest apologies for the delayed response here - our ticketing system which we use for both the Forums and email/social media contact had generated this ticket in a bit of a 'black hole' and has only just surfaced with the tech support team. I can assure you that we haven't been ignoring you, and we certainly wouldn't want any customer feeling this way. In regards to the issue you're reporting, this isn't something I've heard happening before - usually this is indication that your graphics card drivers need updating, and usually this resolves the customers issue outright. There are a few possibilities here, it sounds like your GPU driver may be auto-updating as part of Windows, and when this specific driver is installed, it causes the app to crash. I recommend double checking your Windows Update options and removing the GPU driver update here, to ensure this is not the cause. Secondly, it may help to change the renderer in Affinity to reduce these crashings. Can you please open Affinity then navigate to Edit > Preferences, then in the dialog that opens select Performance. Here, you should see an option for Renderer, which will likely be set to 'Default'. Can you please change this to 'WARP', then restart the app as prompted. Continue to use the app for a while and update me if the app is still crashing for you Quote
