hi,

I have some questions on Affinity Publisher about the Image Frame slider.

1)

Anyone know how to remove the snap increment from slider below the image frame? The photo is not coming exactly how I wanted and I need it the slider to be smoother

https://imgur.com/U95MWSx

2)

What shortcut keys to use when increase/decreasing slider value (also in screenshot above)

Thanks

the snap increment from slider

"Snapping" is used to snap objects to the document/canvas, not to set the step of sliders.

Hold the ALT key down to disable snapping when moving the slider

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Does this not only work when you move the image in the picture frame? I see nothing in the status bar. I guess the OP asked for the sensitivity of the slider.

The Slider appears to snap to predefined values e.g. 20%, 30%, 40% 50% etc which is far more evident in the beta than the released version as I assume further work was done on the slider controls during the current beta phase

But in either version holding the ALT key down stops the slider snapping to any predefined vales

Thanks, after several attempts I see what you mean.

It is a bug that it is not listed in the Status bar.

It is a pity that stepping does not work for the slider as for the edit field (mouse wheel ±1, with Shift ±10, with Ctrl ±0.1).

Is there some reason you can't select the photo itself (it is a child object of the Picture Frame layer) & adjust its size by changing the w & h values  in the Transform panel? In your imgur screenshot it looks like something is locked (the Picture Frame layer?) but that should have no effect on adjusting the photo in the frame.

Also, depending on the Picture Frame Properties scale settings or how you have set the values in the Picture Frame dropdown (the one that includes the "Original Size: button), the slider may show two values, one for the horizontal & a different one for the vertical scale. So to me, this suggests the slider is intended for quick "good enough" scale adjustments, not for precision work.

Thanks @carl123 you right, pressing alt does work. I think it's a bug where even if I turn off snapping via UI it doesn't work. I have to press the 'alt' button and drag the mouse. I don't think there is a short cut key, so I have to use the mouse to move the slider.

Thanks @Pšenda and @joachim and @haakoo and @R C-R , it took me a while to respond because I was trying to find the short cut keys for increasing and decreasing the slider bar for the image frame. I think only way is to press 'alt' button while moving the slider bar with the mouse.
